The Indian White-eye (Zosterops palpebrosus), also known as the Oriental White-eye, is a small passerine bird that adds a splash of colour and melody to the diverse avian tapestry of the Indian subcontinent. Despite its diminutive size—barely larger than a sparrow—this bird has captured the hearts of birdwatchers and nature enthusiasts across South Asia.
What makes the Indian White-eye instantly recognisable is the prominent white ring around its eyes that gives the bird its name. It is one of the small bird varieties that I kept seeing as I walked around the Nandi Hills area in Karnataka.
