The Blue-Faced Malkoha

The blue-faced malkoha (Phaenicophaeus viridirostris) is a captivating bird that often goes unnoticed by casual observers. This stunning species belongs to the cuckoo family, but don't let that fool you – the blue-faced malkoha is anything but ordinary.

Found primarily in India, Sri Lanka, and parts of Southeast Asia, the blue-faced malkoha prefers tropical and subtropical forests, particularly those with thick undergrowth. Unlike many of its cuckoo relatives, this species is not a brood parasite. Instead, it builds its own nests and carefully raises its young, showcasing a more hands-on approach to parenting.
