The golden jackal (Canis aureus) is s smaller than a wolf but larger than a fox, weighing typically between 6-14 kg. The golden jackal has distinctive golden-reddish fur on its back and sides, with lighter cream or white fur underneath.
These intelligent predators are highly adaptable and can thrive in various habitats, from semi-deserts to forests and even urban areas. They're opportunistic omnivores, eating everything from small mammals and birds to fruits, insects, and human refuse. This adaptability has helped them expand their range across the globe. I found these shy but energetic animal in Bondla Wild Life Sanctuary, Goa.
