The Sri Lanka frogmouth, Sri Lankan frogmouth or Ceylon frogmouth (Batrachostomus moniliger) is found in the Western Ghats of south India and Sri Lanka. It is nocturnal and is found in forest habitats. The plumage coloration resembles that of dried leaves and the bird roosts quietly on branches, making it difficult to see.
It is a very rare find in Kannur region of Kerala, South India. I had first photographed it in Thattekad Bird Sanctuary, thus when I saw it I had no difficulty recognising it.

They are almost like a frogs, not only in its facial appearance but also in eating habits. They eat insects and moths. They keep their mouth open as they fly to gather insects.
