The Malabar trogon is arguably one of the most beautiful birds in the Western Ghats. It is a brightly-colored but sluggish medium-sized bird. Male has black head and white collar and bright red belly. Female has a brown head and orangish under parts. It is found in the forests of Sri Lanka and peninsular India. In India it is mainly found in the Western Ghats, hill forests of central India and in parts of the Eastern Ghats.
