The Indian giant squirrel or Malabar giant squirrel (Ratufa indica) is a large multi-coloured tree squirrel species endemic to forests and woodlands in India. There are many oriental giant squirrel varieties; Indian giant squirrel is one of them. It is typically a solitary animal that only come together for breeding. It lives on large trees with lots of leaves. I found these in Chimmoni wildlife sanctuary, a protected area located along the Western Ghats near Thrissur, Kerala.
