The chital, Axis axis, known as spotted deer, chital deer, and axis deer, is arguably the most aesthetically beautiful deer in India. This is the state animal of Telangana. These are widely found in the Indian Subcontinent, and prefer to stay in the grasslands, swampy meadows and scrublands. Male spotted deer have antlers.
Chitals sometimes roam into the farmlands and become a
botheration for the farmers. The Nagarhole National Park and Bandipur National Park have good
presence of Spotter deer.
