Madurai has many lakes and they welcome birds in big numbers: birds both residential and migratory. The Crain and Ibis variety birds fly for long distances from lake to lake or from the place of food to the place of nests.
In the evening if we stand on a building, many large groups
of birds in disciplined formation fly past you. They make lovely patterns in
the blue sky.
