Blister beetles are beetles so called for their defensive secretion of a blistering agent. There are 1000s of such beetles worldwide. Many are conspicuous with their bright colours to inform people and predators that they are toxic.
I found this beautiful looking blister beetle in Madurai, there
was plenty of them. No birds touch them. Luckily they do not intrude into homes
and living spaces.
