Shikra has its name coming from the Urdu and Hindi word, shikari, meaning hunter. It has the patience and agility of a hunter. At times it just sits upright on a tree branch, without inviting any attention to itself. It sits as an incapable and harmless bird. But when it spots a prey, springs into action.
