Juvenile Rock Pigeon Having its First Outing

The young rock pigeons are prettier. They find difficult to begin to fly because of their heavier bodies. They gradually shed their weight a bit by initial flying before they are able to fly longer distances.

Rock pigeon, rock dove, or common pigeon is pale grey with two black bars on each wing, whereas domestic and feral pigeons vary in colour and pattern. Young rock pigeon takes time to develop the black bars on wings. The species is generally monogamous, they have only one partner at a time. They generally produce two chicks in a breeding season. Both parents care for the young for a time.
